We recently completed a stunning outdoor transformation for a valued customer, Andy, in Royton, delivering a modern and highly durable patio area using premium materials and expert craftsmanship. The project combined the elegance of Sinai Beige porcelain tiles with the timeless appeal of a Tobermore Bracken block paving border, creating a space that is both functional and visually striking.

For this project, the Sinai Beige tile was the perfect choice, offering a warm, natural tone that complements both traditional and contemporary properties.

Andy approached us looking to upgrade his existing outdoor space into something more modern, practical, and easy to maintain. The previous surface had become tired and uneven over time, and he wanted a patio that would not only enhance the aesthetics of his garden but also provide a durable surface for entertaining and everyday use.

After an initial consultation and site survey, we recommended Sinai Beige porcelain tiles as the main paving material, paired with a Tobermore Bracken block paving border to frame the patio and add definition. This combination allowed us to create a clean, high-end finish while maintaining a subtle contrast around the edges.

As with any successful patio installation, preparation was key. We began by excavating the existing area to the required depth, removing all old materials and ensuring a clean base to work from. A solid sub-base was then installed using MOT Type 1 aggregate, which was compacted thoroughly to create a stable and long-lasting foundation.

Proper drainage was also carefully considered during this stage, ensuring that water would run away from the property and prevent any future pooling or issues. This is particularly important in areas like Oldham, where weather conditions can be unpredictable throughout the year.

Once the groundwork was complete, we moved on to laying the Sinai Beige porcelain tiles. Porcelain requires a different approach compared to natural stone, as it is less porous and demands precise installation techniques.

Each tile was laid using a full bed of high-quality adhesive to ensure maximum adhesion and prevent any movement over time. We used spacers to maintain consistent joints throughout the patio, creating a clean and uniform finish.

The Sinai Beige colour brings a soft, neutral aesthetic to the space, brightening the garden while still feeling natural and understated. Its subtle texture also provides slip resistance, making it a practical choice for outdoor use, especially in wetter conditions.

Tobermore Bracken Border

To enhance the overall design, we installed a Tobermore Bracken block paving border around the perimeter of the patio. This darker edging creates a striking contrast against the lighter porcelain tiles, helping to define the space and give it a polished, professional appearance.

The border was carefully aligned and laid to ensure crisp, straight lines, tying the whole design together. Not only does this feature add visual appeal, but it also serves a functional purpose by securing the edges of the porcelain tiles and preventing any lateral movement.
